How true is this statement for you? Life is too busy. Most of us would say we will follow Jesus. However, I think most of us have some catching up to do. This was true in the disciple’s lives as well. Just when they thought they were in step with Jesus, Jesus would show them how far they had to go.
Peter thought that he was in step with Jesus. Peter said, “Lord, I am ready to go with you into prison and death”. (Luke 22:33) I am sure, just like us, Peter had the best of intentions to follow Jesus where ever He went. However, just like us, He failed, at least in his immediate efforts. The most awesome thing is that Jesus already knew he would fail. Jesus told Peter, not only will you fail to follow me you will deny me three times.
Jesus knows when we are going to fail. He is not surprised by the fact we did not take much time to focus on him this week. But He still loves us and will use us just like he did Peter when he lost focus.
Lord, thank you for loving me even when I fail. I love you too. Amen
