A time of bringing families together to have Easter Dinner, hiding Easter eggs from our Easter baskets, wearing Easter Bonnets and best of all chocolate Easter Bunnies.
This is all fun but do these things add anything to the true meaning of Easter. I say Yes! Easter derives from the word East which means to shine, to dawn or to spring forth. And is an excellent description for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. His resurrection was so that we also may have a resurrection. That our lives would be raised from the dead into newness of life. (Romans 6:4)
As you eat give thanks, when hiding eggs consider that you are the light of the world that cannot be hidden. (Matt 5:14) When you take from the basket think about the miracle of the 5000 that were fed with 12 baskets left over. (Matt 14:20) When you see the Bonnets think on the crown of life prepared for us (James 1:12) and when you east that delicious Chocolate Easter Bunny, as it makes your mouth water just looking at it, remember that you have tasted God’s Grace (1Peter 2:3) so don’t forget you are… (1Peter 2:9-12). Hmm… I wonder what it says?
